Sashmi Nayak is the Ambedkar Chair Professor instituted by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. She coordinates the Ph.D. Course Work in Social Work for the Utkal University and teaches Social Research Methodology. Her specific area of interest concentrates on anti-oppressive Social Work interventions and focuses on Social Inclusion and Exclusion. Her current research examines issues concerning Manual Scavenging, Begging, Migration, Trafficking, Forced and Bonded Labour. Her present study is supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi and the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi.
